It is said that Chanderi sarees are mentioned in the Mahabharata period of the Vedic period. Whether the pearl-embroidered sarees mention the Mahabharata which indicates Chanderi sarees is a matter of debate and discussion, but the history of Chanderi Saree can be traced back to the 13th or 14th century AD. Around 1350, Koshti weavers from Jhansi migrated to Chanderi and settled there. The Mughal period saw the golden period of weaving in Chanderi.

Chanderi sarees are produced from three kinds of fabric: pure silk, Chanderi cotton and silk cotton. Traditionally cotton and silk are combined using a complicated and intricate weaving process to produce a lightweight and beautiful fabric that combines the best of both fabrics. Traditional coin, floral art, peacocks and modern geometric designs are woven into different Chanderi patterns. The saris are among the finest in India and are known for their gold and silver brocade or zari, fine silk, and opulent embroidery.

A beautifully woven self designed Chanderi cotton silk designer saree with matching pallu is just fabulous. The saree is an epitome of magnificent perfectly aligned jaal of modern geometrical motifs and jhalar pattern deriving its inspiration from medieval India architecture and layout. It’s pallu and border are blended perfectly and are engraved with boota floral motifs showcasing synonymity of pattern. Best suited for workplace, events and parties.
